The poles provide structural support. They may be collapsible for easier transport and storage. Some designs employment rigid poles, altogether made of metal, or sometimes wood. Other designs exercise semi-rigid poles, chiefly made of fiberglass, or sometimes of distinctive metal alloys. Another pole type uses inflatable beams as the structural support.

• Tunnel tents may pitch more usable civic space than a dome tent with the same ground area, but almost always commitment guy ropes and pegs to stay upright

• These are almost always double wall tents
• Sizes dimension from 1-person tents with appropriate limited headroom up to 8 or 10-person tents with headroom exceeding 180 cm (6 ft)
